Create and Manage Custom CRM Fields
What this does
Custom fields store the facts your business cares about that the standard CRM form does not have. You can add them to contacts, companies, deals and tickets, and they show up in forms, lists, workflows, reports and the API.
The six basic field types are available on every plan. The extra types, field rules and field security are part of the CRM Studio package; see your plan under Billing, Usage Overview.
Field types
| Type | Use it for |
|---|---|
| Text, Long text | Short values and notes |
| Number, Percent, Currency | Amounts, scores and rates, with an optional minimum and maximum |
| Date, Date and time | Renewals, appointments |
| Dropdown, Multi-select | One choice or several from your list |
| Checkbox | Yes or no |
| Email, Phone, Web address | Checked for a valid format when saved (phone numbers are stored in international format) |
| Lookup | Link to a contact, a company or a team member |
Add a field
- Go to CRM, Settings, Fields and choose the record type.
- Choose Add field, give it a label and pick the type.
- Optional: add help text, a default value, a minimum and maximum, or a pattern the value must match.
- Optional: choose which roles can see it and which roles can change it. Leave both empty for everyone.
- Choose Save. Then add the field to a form in the Form Designer.
Required fields and deal stages
Mark a field Required. It must then be filled before a deal can move forward. If a required field is empty, Velaro names the field and keeps the deal where it is.
Archive instead of delete
Archive hides a field everywhere but keeps its values, so you can bring it back later.
