Video Avatar: Visitor Controls

What visitors can do

When your AI Video Avatar is on, visitors see it at the top of the chat. They can:

  • Collapse or expand it with the up/down arrow button under the video. Collapsed, the avatar shrinks to a small round thumbnail with its name so the conversation text has more room. The choice is remembered for the rest of their browser session.
  • Hide it with the X on the video, and bring it back any time with Show avatar.
  • Mute or unmute it.

Letting visitors hide or collapse it

Go to Settings → AI Video Avatar → Experience and use Let visitors hide or collapse the avatar.

  • On (default): the arrow button and the X are shown.
  • Off: visitors see the avatar without those controls. They can still mute it.

The name badge

Show badge (same settings page) controls the small name badge on the video. The name comes from Display name; if you leave it blank the badge reads "AI".

"Powered by Velaro"

A small "Powered by Velaro" line appears under the video.

Set it by assistant or script

Ask Moshky to change "allow visitors to collapse the avatar" or "show the badge" for your site, or use the Velaro MCP tool avatar_set_config with allowVisitorCollapse and showBadge.

A different avatar per group or workflow

Open Settings → AI Video Avatar → Who and where. Under Groups or Workflows click Change, then pick a person from the library and a backdrop (a gallery image, an https image address, a color or a gradient). You can also set a display name, personality and voice.

A workflow wins over its group, and a group wins over your account default. Anything left on Account default follows the account setting, and Reset to default removes the override. Image backdrops must use https.

By script: velaro avatar override --workflow 12 --avatar priya --backdrop image --backdrop-value https://example.com/office.png, or the MCP tools avatar_set_workflow_override and avatar_set_group_override.

Body motion

Body motion makes the avatar feel alive: gentle breathing, shoulders, head tilts and nods, and brow movement that follow the voice and the meaning of what is said. It runs in the visitor's browser on top of the normal video, so it adds no cost and no extra video sessions.

Go to Settings → AI Video Avatar → Body motion and pick Off, Subtle, Natural (default) or Expressive. Motion strength (25 to 150 percent) scales every movement. A group or workflow can use a different level: in its override choose a Body motion level, or Account default to inherit. Visitors whose device is set to reduce motion always see a still avatar.

By assistant or script: the MCP tool avatar_set_config accepts motionLevel and motionIntensityPercent; avatar_set_group_override and avatar_set_workflow_override accept motionLevel; the CLI uses --motion-level and --motion-intensity.

HeyGen provider

Velaro Avatar and Simli are available on every plan that includes AI Video Avatars. HeyGen is a separate add-on: it only appears in the provider list once it is enabled for your account, and it cannot be saved until then. To add it, contact your Velaro account manager.

By assistant or script: staff can grant or revoke it with the MCP tool avatar_set_heygen (staff server) or avatar_set_config with heyGenEnabled, or the CLI command velaro avatar heygen --site <id> --enabled true.

On-screen transcript

The bot already keeps the chat transcript. Turn on the on-screen avatar transcript (showTranscript in avatar_set_config, or the Avatar settings toggle) only if you need it for compliance. It is off by default.
