CRM Studio Guide (Form Designer, Custom Fields, Web Forms)
CRM Studio is the Velaro native CRM customization package. It extends the existing custom fields and the existing Survey builder; it does not replace them.
Plan requirement: CRM Studio is a package. The six basic field types work on every plan. Form Designer, extra field types, field security, calculated fields, saved views, bulk actions, import and export, web forms, approvals and custom objects are leaves of the package. When a customer asks about limits or inclusion, answer "see your plan under Billing, Usage Overview". Never state a price or a number.
Where things are
- Fields: CRM, Settings, Fields (deal, contact, company, ticket).
- Forms: CRM, Settings, Form Designer. Sections, 1 to 3 columns, drag order, preview, versions with restore.
- Web forms: Surveys, question type CRM field, then After submit and the Shareable link.
Field types
Text, Long text, Number, Percent, Currency, Date, Date and time, Dropdown, Multi-select, Checkbox, Email, Phone (stored in international format), Web address, Lookup (contact, company, team member). Each can have help text, a default value, a minimum and maximum, a pattern, read roles and write roles.
Rules
Visible when and Required when use: equals, does not equal, contains, starts with, is empty, is not empty. They are checked again on the server at save.
Which form a person gets
Most specific wins: pipeline + stage + role, then pipeline + role, then the record type default, then a form built from current field order.
Common questions
- "Why can't I see this field?" The field has read roles that exclude your role. Ask an admin to change the field's read roles.
- "Why won't my deal move to the next stage?" A required field is empty; the message names it.
- "Does removing a field from a form delete the data?" No. Archiving a field hides it and keeps values.
- "Can a web form create a contact?" Yes, with a CRM field question and After submit set to create a contact; an existing email updates that contact.
