Abandoned Cart and Win-Back Flows
Velaro can start an email flow automatically when a shopper leaves items in their cart, or when a past buyer has gone quiet. Both flows are off until you turn them on for your site.
Turn them on
An admin can enable each flow in the ecommerce flow settings, or ask Velaro support or your Velaro assistant to set it for you.
| Setting | What it does |
|---|---|
| Abandoned cart | Starts your abandoned-cart flow for shoppers who left a cart and did not buy |
| Win-back | Starts your win-back flow for past buyers who have not ordered in a while |
| Abandon delay | How long a cart must sit untouched before the flow starts (default 60 minutes, minimum 15) |
| Win-back days | How long since the last order before the win-back flow starts (default 90 days, minimum 14) |
Your store must be connected and syncing. The cart item list in your emails (see the Cart Items block in the email editor) is filled from Shopify carts.
What your flow does
Velaro starts the flow you built for the "abandoned cart" or "win-back" trigger. Build the emails and waits in your campaign flow as usual. Velaro only decides who enters and when.
Who enters, and only once
- A shopper enters the abandoned-cart flow once per abandoned cart. A new abandoned cart later can enter again.
- A past buyer enters the win-back flow once per last order. A new order resets them.
- Shoppers with no email address never enter.
When someone buys
When a shopper places an order, Velaro removes them from the abandoned-cart flow so they do not get a reminder for something they already bought. Add the "placed order" exit to your flow as well so any emails still waiting to send are cancelled.
Check who entered
The flow history lists each shopper, which flow they entered, when, and whether they exited because they ordered.
Troubleshooting
- No emails going out: confirm the flow is switched on, your store is syncing, and your campaign flow is published for the matching trigger.
- Shopper did not enter: check they have an email, the cart is older than your abandon delay, and they have not ordered in the last day.
