OneDrive and SharePoint File Sharing

What is OneDrive Attachments?

With OneDrive/SharePoint integration, agents can share files from your organization's SharePoint library directly inside a chat conversation — without downloading and re-uploading. The visitor receives a secure, expiring share link right in the chat.

This is ideal for sharing product brochures, contracts, installation guides, invoices, or any document your support or sales team sends regularly.

Requirements

  • Microsoft 365 account connected to Velaro
  • OneDrive Attachments feature enabled on your plan
  • SharePoint document library set up with your shared files

Connecting Microsoft 365

1. Go to Integrations > Microsoft 365.

2. Click Connect Microsoft 365.

3. Sign in with an admin Microsoft 365 account.

4. Grant the requested permissions (read files, create share links).

5. Select the SharePoint site and document library that agents should browse.

6. Click Save.

How agents use OneDrive attachments

In the Velaro messaging workspace, agents see a paperclip / attach icon in the chat input bar. Clicking it opens a file browser showing the connected SharePoint library.

1. The agent browses folders and selects a file.

2. Velaro generates a secure share link via the Microsoft Graph API.

3. The link is inserted into the chat message automatically.

4. The visitor can click the link to view or download the file — no Microsoft account required.

Share links are generated with view-only permissions by default and can be set to expire after a configurable period.

Managing the SharePoint library

To keep the file browser organized:

  • Create folders by team or topic (e.g. "Sales Brochures", "Support Guides", "Legal")
  • Name files clearly — agents see the file name in the browser
  • Archive old files to a separate "Archive" folder

Any changes to the SharePoint library are reflected immediately in the agent file browser.

Security and compliance

  • Files are never uploaded to Velaro servers — share links point directly to your Microsoft 365 tenant.
  • Access is controlled entirely by your SharePoint permissions.
  • Expiring links can be enforced via SharePoint settings.
  • All file sharing activity is logged in the conversation transcript.

Troubleshooting

Agents cannot see the file browser: confirm the Microsoft 365 connection is active in Integrations > Microsoft 365 and the feature is enabled on your plan.

File browser shows empty: check that the SharePoint site and library are correctly selected in the integration settings, and that the connected account has read access to the library.

Share link generation fails: the connected Microsoft 365 account may have lost access or the token expired — reconnect the integration.

Visitor cannot open the link: verify the SharePoint sharing settings allow external sharing for your organization (SharePoint admin center > Policies > Sharing).
