Teams Phone Monthly Minutes Limit
> Note: This article covers the Velaro Messaging platform (V20). See the Teams Phone Guide for setup.
Every answered Microsoft Teams Phone call uses call-handling and recording capacity, so each plan includes a monthly allowance of Teams Phone minutes.
Minutes included by plan
Your monthly Teams Phone minutes depend on your plan. Open Billing, then Usage Overview, to see the exact allowance for your account. Plans without Teams Phone minutes cannot answer Teams Phone calls through Velaro.
If no limit has been set on your account, Velaro applies 300 minutes per month. A missing limit is never treated as unlimited. Your account manager can adjust the limit for your account.
Usage counts the length of finished calls and resets on the 1st of each month (UTC).
Where to see your usage
Go to Billing and open the Usage Overview tab. Teams Phone Minutes shows minutes used against your monthly limit.
Usage alerts
Velaro emails your account's billing contacts as Teams Phone usage grows, and the Billing page shows a banner:
- 75% of the limit (the warning level can be adjusted for your account)
- 90%
- 100% (limit reached)
Each alert includes a path to upgrade your plan or raise your limit.
What happens at the limit
When the monthly limit is reached, new inbound Teams Phone calls are rejected instead of being answered, and each one is recorded as a missed call so you can see who to call back. The reason is also written to the Microsoft Teams Phone Activity Log. Calls resume at the start of the next month, or immediately after your limit is raised.
