How to migrate from Gorgias

Go to Integrations > Migrate from Gorgias to run the migration wizard. It takes 15 minutes.

Step 1: Welcome — review the comparison table and understand what you're gaining.

Step 2: Import macros — enter your Gorgias account name and API key. Velaro fetches all your canned responses (macros) and converts them to bot Q&A pairs. The bot can then answer these questions automatically.

Step 3: Connect Shopify — if Shopify is not connected, connect it now. The Shopify integration lets the bot look up orders, track shipments, process returns, and search your product catalog live.

Step 4: Launch the bot — scan your store so the bot learns your products, review the imported Q&A pairs, then launch the Starter Wizard to create your first support workflow.

How to get your Gorgias API key

1. Log in to Gorgias.

2. Go to Settings > REST API.

3. Click Generate API key.

4. Copy the key and paste it into the migration wizard.

What happens to imported macros

Each Gorgias macro with a "Send message" action is converted to a Velaro bot Q&A pair:

• Macro name becomes the question
• Message body becomes the answer

The bot can then answer these questions automatically in any conversation. You can review and edit them at Integrations > Shopify > Bot Knowledge.

Macros without a send-message action (e.g., tag-only macros) are skipped.

When to cancel your Gorgias subscription

Run Velaro and Gorgias in parallel for 1–2 weeks. Monitor Velaro's bot resolution rate. Once the bot is handling your volume reliably, cancel Gorgias. Most merchants see full coverage within 2 weeks.

BigCommerce merchants migrating from Gorgias

The migration wizard uses Shopify for the store connection step, but BigCommerce merchants can also migrate their macros. After importing macros in Step 2, connect BigCommerce instead of Shopify (skip Step 3 and go to Integrations > BigCommerce separately).

The Gorgias macro import works the same way — macros become bot Q&A pairs regardless of which store platform you use.
