Overview

The chat button can show its own short label, and the chat opens with its own greeting. You can use different wording on different pages. A support page can say "Troubleshoot my device" while a buyback page says "Sell my concentrator." Visitors on pages you have not set up see your normal wording.

Each chat window holds one label and one greeting. To change the wording by page, make one chat window per page type and tell Velaro which pages use which window.

Set the label and greeting on a chat window

1. Go to Messaging, Chat Window and open the window you want to change (or create a new one with New chat window).

2. In Appearance, Launcher, type your wording in Launcher text. Keep it short, 60 characters or fewer.

3. In the Language tab, edit Greeting. This is the first line visitors see when the chat opens, up to 256 characters.

4. Save. Clearing a field returns that field to the normal wording.

Show a chat window on specific pages

1. Go to Workflows and create a workflow that starts with Widget loads on page.

2. Add a Page URL condition that matches the pages you want, for example any address containing /support.

3. Add a Select Chat Window node and choose the chat window you set up above.

4. Turn the workflow on.

Repeat for each page group. A visitor on a page that matches no workflow gets your default chat window.

Different languages

Create one chat window per language, each with its own label and greeting, and add the language as a condition on the workflow. Pages in that language then use the matching window.

Offer a short menu of choices

To greet visitors with choices such as "Troubleshoot my device," "Product questions," "Sell my concentrator," and "Talk to a person," build the choices into a workflow. Add a message step with quick replies, then branch on the visitor's pick to the right team, bot, or survey. See the Workflows guide for quick replies.

Set it up from the command line or an AI assistant

• Command line: velaro chat-window list and velaro chat-window set-copy <id> --launcher-text "Troubleshoot my device" --greeting "Hi, what is going on with your device?"
• AI assistant (MCP): chat_window_list and chat_window_set_launcher_copy.

Troubleshooting

• The old wording still shows. Reload the page. The chat window is fetched fresh on every page load, so a hard refresh clears a stale tab.
• The wrong wording shows on a page. Check that the workflow is on and its page condition matches the address. If several workflows match, check which has the higher priority.
• The label does not appear at all. The label shows as a pill next to the chat button. Make sure the chat window you selected has Launcher text filled in.
