Attributing Calls to Marketing Campaigns
Call Attribution shows you which marketing campaign, source, and medium drove each inbound phone call — so you can tell whether that radio ad, Google ad, or billboard is actually generating calls. It does not insert dynamic phone numbers on your own website and does not match calls to a specific website visitor session — it is call-source attribution only.
There are two ways to set it up, and you can use either one or both together.
Path 1: Connect CallRail
If you already use CallRail for call tracking, connect it to bring that attribution data into Velaro:
- Go to Integrations > CallRail Attribution and connect your account (Account ID).
- Click Regenerate under Webhook Secret to generate your webhook secret, then copy the Webhook URL shown on the Settings tab.
- In your CallRail account, go to Settings > Webhooks > Add Webhook and paste in the Webhook URL.
- Click Test Connection on the CallRail settings page to confirm the connection is live.
- Calls tracked by CallRail start appearing on the Call Attribution Report within a few minutes of the next tracked call.
Path 2: Native campaign labels (no CallRail needed)
Don't use CallRail? You can still attribute calls to a campaign for free:
- Go to Channels > IVR.
- Open any phone number you own.
- Set its Campaign Label field — for example, "Radio Ad - Spring 2026".
Every call that comes in to that number from then on is automatically attributed to that campaign, and shows up on the same Call Attribution Report. The number of phone numbers you can label this way is capped by your plan; if you reach the limit, remove a label from another number or upgrade your plan.
Viewing the report
Open the Call Attribution Report — it shows, for every attributed call:
- Date and time (Pacific time)
- Phone number
- Provider (CallRail or native)
- Marketing source, campaign, and medium
- A link to the call recording, when CallRail provides one
Using it with Moshky (AI)
Two AI tools are available so your bot or Moshky can answer questions or make changes for you:
- Get call attribution data — ask "What campaigns are driving our calls?" or "Where are our phone calls coming from?" to get a read-only summary of recent attributed calls.
- Tag a number with a campaign — say "Tag 800-555-1234 as our Spring Radio campaign" to assign or clear a campaign label without opening the IVR settings page yourself. This is subject to the same plan cap as the manual setup above.
